It'll be interesting to see what happens in the 08 campaign cycle. For Senate and House races, campaigns need to start NOW on their Web/search/ppc strategies.

We should be able to get an early sense of who gets it by the types of job descriptions we see on campaign staffs and by campaign engagements with Web consultants. It'll also be interesting to see how many "traditional" political consultants hire new, Web-based skill sets to serve their clients.

My sense, based only on anecdotal evidence, is that the D's had a slight advantage in Web marketing in the 06 cycle (I'd be interested in hearing anyone's thoughts on why this was so). So to get competitive, I'd expect the R's to commit significant resources to close the Web gap.
