Hi Matt,

being a beginner I always look for the 'magic pill' to be a successful internet marketer although I know from experienced people like you such magic formula doesn't exist. Thanks for your post, I should have found this post early in 2007 where I bought lots of scrap e-books and programs from the so called internet gurus ....

Thanks for the comments. This is something that I finally founds the words to explain, yet I seem to experience it in some way or another. It sometimes seems that everyone wants the easy answer, but is not willing to learn why it's the right answer.

Amen!

Here in Canada we are facing the same problem.

Intellectual curiosity is so underrated now, I'm afraid it's not even on the radar screen in our schools and universities. Have we forgotten the philosophical roots of post-secondary education?

We are so obsessed with preparing kids to "get a job" (the WHAT) that we forget to actually ENGAGE these little people as independent thinkers. We have forgotten that they (and we) live in a world deliciously overflowing with the WHY and-thankfully so-eternally short on the WHAT.

My two-year-old reminds me every day, as he happily tears apart a puzzle he just labored over so that he can do it all over again, that curiosity, discovery, and problem solving are the stuff of life.

Perhaps the means doesn't justify the end, but the race is a heck of a lot more interesting than the medals ceremony afterward.

Excellent post Matt. You hit the nail on the head, we all want a quick fix. Just tell me the formula to be no. 1 that's all I want. It comes from the instant gratification gene in all of us I guess. But the people that are successful in the sem seo world are the ones like you that are as you put so well "curious" and will sepnd hours, days finding something that works.

As far as the US education system, well the articles you point to say it all. My wife and I looked into home schooling our son years ago and were impressed by the homeschoolers that presented at a conference. We went ahead and did it. It was a great experience for all of us.
