How much time and money are you willing to waste on training
THAT DOESN’T GET YOU PROMOTED?
Here’s what Matt has to say:
Digital Marketers are in higher in demand than ever! But do your skills match the demand?
This is why certification is so critical.
The advantage of certification is that it validates your knowledge across a variety of in-demand disciplines. Without certification, the only method of validating knowledge is experience. And we all know that there are many people who have been in a position but had little no experience – even after leaving the position!
This is why companies like Proctor & Gamble only hire OMCA certified marketers. The certification means that they have not only been trained but that they have passed an examination that tests and validates their knowledge across the primary skill set.
But there is still something missing.
Training is good.
Certification is great.
But they are not all the same. You’ve seen this. It’s about what you will take with you that will impact your work and prove your expertise! It’s about an educational experience that build your skills through experience and coaching. Watching videos and taking tests don’t create a lasting transformation.
People – humans – learn best through through performing real-world activities rather than completing multiple-choice tests. I don’t know about you, but I hate tests – especially multiple-choice tests.
And in the corporate world, in marketing, when do we ever take tests??
Not all courses are created the same.
First, let’s talk about you for a bit.
You’re here and you’ve probably been thinking about registering for a course for a while. You may have already tried one or two, but chances are they weren’t interesting, required to much time, or you didn’t get the results you were after.
PEOPLE LIKE YOU TAKE CERTIFICATION COURSES FOR THREE MAIN REASONS:
1. You want to make more money.
Let’s be honest, getting promoted and making more money is an amazing feeling. Marketers who have earned the OMCA certification – earn anywhere between 16%-26% more than their non-certified co-workers.
Get certified. Get noticed. Get more money. That’s a huge upside!
2. You want time flexibility.
You are probably busy with work trying to get that edge, or scrambling to get access to knowledge that you need to effectively run a campaign, a team, or maybe even the entire department!
You don’t have time to watch dozens or hundreds of hours of videos and try to keep all of that knowledge in your head!
Either way, the only way to complete this course is if you do the work. The course is designed for you to spend the minimal amount of time watching videos, and the rest is performing your own research, developing your findings and presenting them. You can do this alongside your work and get personalized feedback at the same time!
The course is designed to provide the feedback and coaching you need to reinforce your skills and confidence without taking up valuable time that could be spent with friends or family!
3. You want to improve yourself and others.
Not only so you want to be better improve, grow, learn and change, but you are driven to help others do the same. As you develop your skills and grow in the marketing industry, you’ll be a mentor to others.
There is a real sense of meaning and accomplishment when to teach others skills and pass along wisdom that they would have never learned on their own.
So Why It is Then, That So Many People Struggle to Find the Right Digital Marketing Course?
It’s Because of the Terrible Trio:
“We have 100’s of hours of training videos!”
This doesn’t excite anyone.
Watching video is not learning. Simply putting a lecture on video with PowerPoint slides is not an effective method of teaching. Our brains can only retain so much – typically only 10 minutes of a 60-minute lecture.
Spend anytime scrolling through support groups for digital marketing training, and you’ll quickly find a bunch of posts like this:
“It’s so dry and boring!”
“I’m confused. I wish they would use plain language.”
“It took me 3 attempts to get certified, and I had to pay for each exam!”
“If I have to watch one more video….I’m going to scream!”
It’s devastating to hear the stories of people investing so much into a course, only to become bored or overwhelmed with the amount of content they have to consume. It’s a one-way learning experience.
People learn by doing.
Experts are made through action.
“You’ll learn from top experts.”
You might, and maybe hear from them in the videos, but you certainly won’t interact with those experts.
I should know. I develop, create, and record content for the top digital marketing programs in the market. Once I deliver the videos, I’m done.
The experts you actually deal with are people with a few years in the industry, but with little brand, agency, or SMB experience.
The whole point of having an expert is to provide you with a mentor who can answer questions beyond the simple “how to do this?”
Having a real coach or mentor provides you the ability to ask the real questions about expectations in a high-performance job role. Or, the realities of starting your own business. The experts provided in those courses can’t answer those questions.
The goal of any training organization is scale – to train as many people as possible, as fast as they can, to make as much money as possible. They can’t offer a real expert who can interact with students on a regular basis. It’s not affordable, it doesn’t scale, and it cuts into their profits.
“You Get Our Certification!”
The certification from a training provider only means that you passed their course.
Is the certification from an industry-recognized authority? Or is it simply that you attended their course?
There are many certification courses out there. Every training organization offers a certification for completion. However, the most valuable certification is one from an independent, third-party industry organization that validates the training content taught and the performance skills of the students.
The OMCA is a certification from an independent third-party standards organization. The OMCA is made up of Marketing executives from Fortune 500 companies, practitioners, and educators who meet regularly to update the standards and expected competencies of digital marketers.
The OMCA certifies educational courses and certifies marketers who pass the exam. This course will give you a certificate upon successful completion, but the purpose of that certificate is to meet the requirements of the OMCA certification exam.

Here’s Something You Need to Know Before You Go…
All it takes is some knowledge and experience & your career takes off. You’ve probably heard me share this before, but if you’re not growing, you’re going backwards: “A year from now, you’ll be a year older. What are you going to do?”
That question drives me to create a business that I love by helping people to build their careers or grow their own business. It’s all about impact & growth for me in this education game.
I have former students in VP roles, digital managers and directors at Fortune 500 companies, even running successful businesses – some retired before they were 50! I love hearing from them about their success.
I’d love to hear the same from you.
So here’s one last question for you that might just change your life:
WHAT IS YOUR TIME WORTH?
Stop wasting your time struggling to get traction, following cheap marketing advice off blogs, YouTube & Facebook posts and in all the articles. Don’t let “the experts” sidetrack you off your big audacious career goals.
